Dip a red thread or cord into the Cauldron. Bless the cord with fire, earth, or incense (wind), or by breathing on it. Bless the rowan cross in the same way. As you knot the cord (or thread) into a Witches' Ladder, now chant:
From the Cauldron of Kerridiwen
Blessed by Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind
Rowan tree and the thread,
Tie him fast to his own bed.
When you have finished the ladder, say:
Silver Moon and golden Sun,
End Ye well
What is here begun.
Comment: After you have finished with the knotting, wrap the ladder around the equal-armed cross of rowan wood. When th spell is complete, wrap the corded rowan cross in a piece of red silk and put it a tight place away prying eyes.
